NETGEAR M5 MR5200 MODIFIED 4x4 MIMO-4G 5G 5x external antennas Router
This item is for NETGEAR MODIFYING SERVICE. What's the process to get my router modified? Once received and the modification is complete, we will contact you to notify you of its completion and provide you the tracking information for the safe return of the router.
Your router modification will take a few days. While your router is being modified now's the time to prepare your installation.
Can we modify any other routers? If you have a different router, you would like to get modified please contact with your router make and model. What does this modification do? The modification will give you 5x external antenna connections (4x 4G and 1x 5G). This converts the internal 4G & 5G antennas for external use and allows you to attach external antennas to your router that wouldnt have external inputs as standard. Some routers as standard have 2 external antenna inputs, however they only allow for 2x antennas. Due to the nature of 5G NSA (see below for more information on 5G types) 5G still needs a 4G signal before it can negotiate a 5G link. As the router is reliant on the 4G internal antennas weak signal to obtain 5G link it can struggle to negotiate a 5G link. Other benefits to having your router modified. Allows you to connect 5G antennas. Allows you to connect 4G antennas. Allows you to boost your speeds using 4x4 MIMO on 4G. Allows you to aggregate 4G and 5G speeds combined to boost speeds.
Allows for carrier aggression on 4G (use multiple frequencies at once) boosting speeds. Increases signal, improving its speeds. MIMO stands for multiple input, multiple output.
4×4 MIMO device has four antennas for four simultaneous data streams, while 2×2 MIMO has two. Each antenna on a device is used both for receiving data and sending data.
The more antennas your device has, the more data it can transfer at onceand that means faster download and upload speeds. Why use 4 antenna inputs 4x4 MIMO? Some routers offer 2 external antenna inputs as standard but going from 2x2 MIMO (2 antennas) to 4×4 MIMO (4 antennas) means doubling the theoretical maximum data transfer speed. Thats because each antenna supports a separate data stream up to a maximum theoretical limit. The precise limit varies depending on the wireless networking standing your using.
Does this modification affect the WI-FI? This mod does not affect the internal Wi-Fi and will continue to function as normal.
Can I still use the internal antennas? YES, this modification does not disconnect the internal 4G/5G antennas and will continue to function as normal (when no antennas are connected to the TS9 inputs the internal antennas are activated). What antenna connection configurations can I do once modified? This modification will allow the use of the new external inputs in any of the below configurations.
(please refer to the antenna connection diagram in the pictures and refer to the below). United Kingdom 5G users will need to us 5G NSA configuration as SA is not available in the UK. 4G 2x2 MIMO (2 antenna inputs). Use 4G TS9 1, 4G SMA 5. 4G 4x4 MIMO (4 antenna inputs).
Use 4G TS9 1, 4G SMA 3, 4G SMA 4, 4G SMA 5. 5G NSA & 4G 2x2 MIMO (4 antenna inputs). Use 4G TS9 1, 5G TS9 2, 4G SMA 5. 5G NSA & 4G 4x4 MIMO (6 antenna inputs).
Use 4G TS9 1, 5G TS9 2, 4G SMA 5, 4G SMA 3, 4G SMA 4. What is 5G NSA and 5G SA?
There are two types of 5G connectivity that are used for routers and masts to negotiate a 5G link. SA (stand-alone) SA means the mast and router can negotiate a link without needing a 4G connection first, the router must be SA capable and the mast must have its own dedicated 5G infrastructure SA not dependant on 4G. (This is more expensive for carriers to install). NSA (none stand-alone) NSA means the router and the mast must negotiate a 4G link before it can negotiate and use 5G.
Once negotiated it will still require a link with 4G despite using 5G. Basically the operator attached a 5G radio to an existing 4G mast so its not pure 5G like SA (cheaper for carriers to install).
